The craftsmanship of woodturning dates back to the ancient Egyptians. Its purpose was to produce utilitarian vessels for eating off of and drinking from. This craftsmanship continued to be developed and refined down through the ages by the likes of the Romans, Germans and British. At the present most useful vessels are produced primarily by computer driven lathes.
The art of woodturning is a relatively recent development. This art form produces vessels that are pleasing to the eye but not necessarily useful around the home. New and more economical lathes coupled with innovative tools have given rise to both exotic and extraordinary shapes and forms.
Larry Fox has combined the ancient craftsmanship of woodturning with the modern art of woodturning to produce uniquely creative and functional fine art pieces. You may use his bowls and vases as center pieces of artistic conversation or you may simply use them.
